06 Oct PLENTY OF PERFORMANCES REMAIN FOR 2016
Strathalbyn Band Festival
On Sunday 14th August, after a couple of years break the Hahndorf Town Band were invited to take part in the Strathalbyn Band Festival.
This festival is held over 2 weekends showcasing plenty of concert, school and brass bands who present a 30-minute entertainment program to the large audiences that come along every year. At this performance our band chose to showcase several of our talented musicians by presenting amongst our whole band tunes several duets or soloists. The band loved being able to once again play at this festival and received many comments from a variety of audience members that had not seen us for a while saying that they greatly enjoyed our performanes.
Hymns & Classics Concert No 2.
Plenty of Performances remain for 2016.

HAHNDORF TOWN BAND’S 90TH BIRTHDAY MUSIKFEST EVENING
The band were joined by some excellent supporting guest artists to provide the audience with some very entertaining and varied musical pieces throughout the evening. We would like to thank Narelle Thomas (a local vocalist from Callington) who presented a variety of songs including a brilliant rendition of “Over the Rainbow” by Eva Cassidy. Our other supporting guest artist were a couple of very entertaining gentlemen known as W&P (John Wilson and Paul Potts) who regularly perform for the Strathalbyn Players. They provided the comedy side of the evening by presenting a version of a song or two from Pirates of Penzance – with a twist! Paul made a brilliant lady! as well as a comedy act of ‘Brush up on your Shakespeare” which incorporated with a bit of help from a variety of props many lines from a variety of the Shakespeare plays put together very cleverly.
We would like to thank them all for coming along and adding to our evening. Throughout the evening our band also showcased the talent of some of our players with various duets or solos.
Greg Francis and Ben Daly with a trombone duet of ‘To all the girls I loved before”
Bronwyn Dolman, our Flugal player featuring during the piece: Evergreen
Debbie Jackson on Eb Tuba, who also added to the comedy factor of the evening by playing a fun version of Bear Necessities from the Jungle Book. This piece also featured in sections Bronwyn Dolman on Flugal and Jack Flintoft on Cornet.
Chris Sheehan (our local owner/publican from the Hahndorf Inn) as a Master of Ceremonies for the evening and the band would like to thank him as well for his contribution to the evening. The Hahndorf Band would also like to thank our supporters of our fundraising raffle for their kind donations: Trevor and Lorraine Kramm (Patron of the Hahndorf Town Band), Platform 1 Heritage Railway and the Hahndorf Inn.
We hold this Cabaret style evening every year usually in June and we are all looking forward to working on a new program for next year’s event. If anyone is interested in being on our mailing list for this evening or want any more information about this event, please call Debbie Jackson on 0410 881742 or Kathy Francis on 83887 280 so that we can keep you informed of the 2017 date for this great entertaining night. We are now rehearsing towards our next engagements – please check out our What’s Happening or Coming Events for more details.
