On Sunday 15th May the Hahndorf Youth Band were invited to take part in a celebration of the Hahndorf Institute by performing at the recent “A Pleasant Sunday Afternoon” held in the Hahndorf Institute to celebrate the history of this building.
This was the first performance for a lot of our young members, with some of them only having been part of the band for a very short time.
They provided a variety of music to the audience, with some well known songs such as Little Brown Jug, and Boogie Woogie Blues right up to You’ve got a friend in me.
This was also a first time performance for Natalie Williams as their conductor. Natalie is currently doing Honours in Music at the Conservatory of Music, Adelaide and wants to gain experience as a conductor as part of her studies, so this was a great chance to do this.
The members did a great job and the audience members certainly appreciated having music provided by the Hahndorf Youth Band, while they were viewing many photos showing the history of the Hahndorf Institute, catching up with many friends and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and home made scones.
The next performance from the Hahndorf Youth Band will be at the Hahndorf Town Band’s Musikfest being held in the Hahndorf Institute on Saturday 18th June commencing at 7.30pm.
